There being no objection, it was so ordered. 1998-05-07 House Journal Page 3610 HB 344 Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Kemplen: Page 1, line 5: Delete "PURPOSE." Insert "PURPOSE AND INTENT. (a)" Page 1, following line 9: Insert a new subsection to read: "(b) It is the intent of the legislature, under its responsibility to implement the privacy clause contained in art. I, sec. 22, Constitution of the State of Alaska, to establish a working group to develop statutory and regulatory mechanisms that will safeguard the confidentiality of social security numbers required to be disclosed to state agencies by persons under this Act and under ch. 87, SLA 1997. The legislature intends that the working group report its recommendations, in the form of draft legislation where legislation is necessary, to the legislature by January 25, 1999, so that the legislation may be acted upon before this Act takes effect." Page 14, line 21: Delete "immediately under AS01.10.070(c)" Insert "June 30, 1999" Representative Kemplen moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. Representative Porter objected. Representative Davies moved and asked unanimous consent that the question be divided. The Speaker ruled that the question was divisible. Objection was heard, and Representative Ryan was required to vote. Representative Kemplen placed a call of the House and lifted the call. The Speaker stated that, without objection, the House would recess until 1:00 p.m.; and so, the House recessed at 12:32 p.m.
